The vice president and chief operating officer (COO) is accountable for the overall smooth and efficient clinical operations of SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). This executive will work closely as a part of the executive leadership team to ensure that SEARHC provides the highest-quality, cost-effective patient care to the communities that it serves. The COO will also partner with leadership to develop and execute upon strategic goals for his/her areas of oversight.
Provide exceptional operational leadership for areas of responsibility to achieve operational and financial results in line with organizational goals.
Collaborate as a member of the executive leadership team to establish and execute upon strategic objectives.
In partnership with senior leadership, evaluate the adequacy of existing healthcare services alongside the development of new programs/services to respond to community needs and capitalize on areas of excellence.
Serve as a champion for adopting best practices that advance operational and clinical excellence, with a focus on improving quality and patient experience.
Ensure long-term continued financial and operational stability by implementing effective operational improvements and providing management oversight.
Build and maintain a strong and collaborative relationship with medical staff and clinicians.
Assist the organization in its evolution to a more patient-centric community health and wellness model.
Provide direct reports with the authority, accountability, coaching/mentoring and resources to achieve their full potential and successfully drive SEARHC’s performance.
Ensure and maintain compliance with governmental regulations and industry standards.

The COO will be a strong operations leader, with an unwavering commitment to quality, safety and customer service. He/she will have the ability to balance the delivery of high quality care against the realities of a budget. The successful placement will have exceptional capacity for managing and leading people, with the capacity to develop others and to enforce accountability.
Ten or more years' progressive experience overseeing hospital operations.
Leadership experience in a multi-site healthcare organization.
Experience using performance improvement methodologies.
Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business or related field required.
Master's degree in health administration, public health, business, clinical discipline or related field preferred.
