The Allied Health Department at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor faculty in its Exercise Science Program beginning August 16, 2018. A doctoral degree in Exercise Science or related field (Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, etc.) is preferred, but ABD considered if the degree will be completed by August 16, 2018. Candidates should have working experience in the Exercise Science field and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching classroom and laboratory courses in Exercise Science. These are full-time, on-campus positions. The individuals will teach undergraduate courses in the Exercise Science curricula such as exercise prescription, nutrition, medical terminology, injury prevention and care, kinesiology and biomechanics, motor learning, physiology of exercise, evidence-based research concepts, psychology of exercise and sport, as well as health promotion and disease prevention courses or in other areas of the program and department as needed. The Exercise Science faculty will participate in student advertisement, community engagement/experiential learning activities, develop and maintain an active research agenda, and provide professional service. Professional certification(s) and membership in professional organization(s) are optional but encouraged. Evidence of teaching excellence in Exercise Science courses at the university level, in addition to scholarly productivity in appropriate disciplines, is expected.
