The Cancer and Blood Disorders Institute (CBDI) is one of 4-Institutes at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH), representing the keystones of JHACH’s academic integration. The Institutes’ backbone is a well-established clinical service line, encompassing the full continuum of care, enhanced and supported by research, education, quality and safety and patient advocacy. The Institute’s organizational structure is matrix-based and led by the Institute Medical Director in collaboration with a Senior Director, Administration and a Senior Director of Nursing, and the Deputy Director, Clinical Services.
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital seeks an outstanding MD and/or PhD academic leader to direct the CBDI. The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) at the Associate Professor level or higher. Integral to the position will be the ability to foster cutting edge research (basic/translational/clinical), lead academically and educationally oriented faculty, and demonstrate the skills to propel the CBDI to new heights in its clinical, research and teaching mission(s).
Lead the promotion of research and academic growth related to pediatric cancer and blood diseases.
Key opportunities, but not limited to, the development of early phase 1 clinical trials program and programs centered on immunotherapy.
Improve faculty and staff engagement through attention to diversity recruitment, retention, career development, personal leadership development, and effective communication.
Ample existing lab space available. New Research and Education Building scheduled to open in December 2018.
Significant collaboration potential with affiliate Moffitt Cancer Center centered on pediatric cancer clinical and research focus.
Lead JHACH in becoming the preeminent location for pediatric cancer in the state of Florida.

All Children’s Hospital became part of the Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) and a fully integrated member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) on April 1, 2011.All Children’s is the first U.S. hospital outside of the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., region to become integrated with JHM, which includes the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.
Additionally, after working with a consortium of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine faculty members, a new pediatric residency program was designed with the first class of trainees entering the program in July, 2014.
