We are seeking new talent to work as the local public health officer for Clayton county in the Clayton County Health District in Jonesboro, Georgia area as well as being the district public health director reporting to the Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner. The Commissioner, a licensed medical physician, reports directly to the Governor of Georgia. This position would be the chief executive of the Clayton county board of health, and their respective public health departments. The board serves in a largely advisory and advocacy role. This is broad, highly stimulating, population health improvement work which ranges from policy development, to environmental regulation, to public education, to individual contagious disease treatment (and containment) and more.
Minimum Qualifications:Must possess a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine and a valid license from the Georgia Composite Medical BoardANDTwo years of professional experience in public health, preventive medicine or private medicine. Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the entry qualifications have:Master of Public Health and 3 - 5 years of management experienceKnowledge of the core functions of public healthExperience in the development, management and/or the administration of budgets, contracts or grantsExperience in Strategic Planning (ie. mission identification, goals planning and evaluation) & health planningExperience in human resources/personnel managementKnowledge in emergency preparedness and response planning

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
