The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing an excellent customer experience while assisting in all aspects of medical practice under the direct supervision of a physician. Responsible for patient safety, performing phlebotomy, Point of Care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens, administering all medications, safe operation of medical equipment, documenting accurate patient information/data and maintains medical records. The Medical Assistant addresses patient questions/concerns, as well as preparing patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery.
Education: High School or equivalent. Recent graduate (within last 3 years) with Associates of Science in Medical Assisting degree OR Occupational Associate in Medical Assisting degree OR Vocational/Technical Certificate (1300 hrs. curriculum). NOTE: Three years of recent clinical experience in a physician’s office with medication administration/injection experience required IN LIEU of degree.
Medical terminology, communication skills and basic knowledge of computers
AHA BLS required. Must be obtained within first 90 days of hire.
Internal medicine and or family practice experience
Certification through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assisting
