The Senior Director is a leader of a portfolio of significant functions or programs at NACCHO, and is responsible for both developing the strategic direction and ensuring the achievement of results within their portfolio. The Senior Director is expected to integrate complex activities within their portfolio and across the organization. He/she oversees the design and implementation of programs to achieve the unit's strategic goals and is accountable for overall management of budgets, work plans, and unit deliverables; generates revenue and relationships with key stakeholders; and making recommendations to leadership on improving operational effectiveness of unit and program(s). As a leader and manager of employees, the Senior Director is responsible for planning, organizing and managing a unit or functional area, typically comprised of professional and support staff.
An individual at this level is recognized externally as an expert in his or her field. Positions at this level require the ability to act independently within the broader organizational mission, think strategically, and operationalize the design, implementation and management of projects related to their functional or programmatic area. This position may also require the ability to work on projects of a highly confidential and sensitive nature and interface with internal and external stakeholders across various levels.
Unit Specific Information The Senior Director provides oversight to the Safe and Healthy Families portfolio which includes Adolescent Health, Maternal and Child Health, Injury Prevention, and Violence Prevention. This position reports to the Senior Advisor for Public Health Programs.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Provides overall leadership and strategic direction for long-term planning related to their unit. • Represents their unit and ensures collaboration across organization to maximize NACCHO’s operational effectiveness and value added. • Coaches and mentors team members and provides opportunities for professional development. • Ensure fiscal requirements and accountability related to their unit are met. • Identifies and implements national, state, and local, strategies that support the advancement of issues related to their unit. Ensures NACCHO is recognized as a leader in promoting, supporting, and advancing issues related to their unit. • Substantially contributes to advancements in public health practices especially as it relates to issues within their unit. • Represents NACCHO at national, state, and local meetings on issues related to their unit. • Serves on national advisory committees and workgroups as it relates to issues within to their unit. • Maintains and continuously grows network of public health experts who can serve as assets to NACCHO. • Collaborates with Senior Advisor and Chief of Programs in identifying, assessing, and pursuing potential business opportunities that align with NACCHO’s overall mission and vision. • Develops and expands consulting services related to issues related to unit. • Assists the Senior Advisor, Chief of Programs, or Executive Team in other matters as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant professional field with a minimum of 10-12 years relevant work experience; or a Master’s degree in relevant professional field with a minimum of 8-10 years relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, including a relevant certification. Master’s degree or certification in a relevant field preferred. JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt, TERM: This position is considered a term position made possible through grant funding, some or all of which is scheduled to end July 31, 2016. While NACCHO will make every effort to secure continued funding, this position may be eliminated on July 31, 2016.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $114,320.00 to $119,000.00
