Assists the Manager, Medical Staff Services and Medical Staff Coordinator with multiple Medical Staff and Allied Health Practitioner (AHP) functions, including Medical Staff Development, special Medical Staff events, Medical Staff and AHP onboarding, Safe Care Report processing, and Medical Staff Emergency Call Schedule, Medical Director contracts, office supplies, check requisitions and in-house requisitions for IT, Phones, Reprographics, etc.
Associate Degree preferred. May substitute education with four (4) years’ experience working in same or similar position, performing same or similar duties delineated in job description.
Four (4) or five (5) years’ experience performing same or similar job duties or related experience in managed/health care industry.
Thorough and complete understanding of internal and external regulatory standards (e.g. The Joint Commission (JC), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), NPDB, OIG) as they relate to the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional (AHP) policies and procedures, governance, credentialing, and re-credentialing.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required in order to effectively interact with all levels of staff.
Technical knowledge of automated/computerized support system and maintenance of same (credentialing software, MS Office programs, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE)).
Must be currently certified by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Professional Credentialing Specialists, or Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager, or in active pursuit of one NAMSS certification
Must possess demonstrated ability to accurately coordinate and process all aspects of credentialing functions and timeliness of privileging processes (including the coordination of information with the Centralized Credentialing Office.).
Must possess analytical skills to offer appropriate resolution to identify problems in consultation with the Manager, Medical Staff Services, as appropriate.
Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills to work effectively and efficiently in a highly regulated environment.
Possess sufficient knowledge of the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures, and the standards of all regulatory agencies (item 3 above), necessary to exercise independent judgment and discretion with regard to matters of significance (as outlined in the Key Job Duties) involving the Medical Staff and AHP who are primary “customers” of the Mercy St. Charles Hospital.
Requires the ability to be use good judgment, diplomacy, and professionalism while multitasking and working with a variety of personalities and temperaments.
