The March of Dimes is seeking applications and nominations for a Senior Vice President & Chief Medical and Health Officer.

As the industry leader in maternal and child health, March of Dimes works in local markets with staff and thousands of volunteers in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Staff and volunteers partner with health agencies, community-based organizations, professional associations, hospitals, and others on the ground to determine the most pressing maternal and child health needs and to develop a multi-year strategic plan to improve the health of different communities. Staff and volunteers then work to enhance and expand community services and to improve systems of care for moms, babies, and their families through leadership, educational programs, and community partnerships. March of Dimes offers a wealth of health education and promotion programs including workplace wellness initiatives, such as Healthy Babies Healthy Business®, which is used by more than 500 businesses.
One of the many ways March of Dimes fulfills its mission is by convening and leading key stakeholders to accelerate the uptake of evidence-informed interventions that have been shown to reduce preterm birth risk. In addition, community grants support local programming, educational activities, and quality improvement initiatives around the U.S. Grantees are selected through a competitive process that helps markets focus their resources on the areas of greatest need and potential impact to improve the health of pregnant women. Funded programs include smoking cessation services, substance abuse counseling, management of diabetes and hypertension, and case-management services. March of Dimes new Supportive Pregnancy Care program is initiating group prenatal care in communities with the aim of improving health equity and reducing preterm birth.

As an integral member of the Executive Leadership team, the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical/Health Officer reports to the President and is charged with leading, setting, and guiding the strategic direction for the organization’s mission-related programs with particular emphasis on maternal/child health, pre-term birth, infant mortality, health equity, and public health issues facing and impacting the health of all moms and babies.
•Doctor of Medicine required with expertise in maternal child health, prematurity, health equity and public health issues/threats impacting maternal and newborn health. Previous specialization in Pediatrics and/or Obstetrics and Gynecology is highly desirable.
•Demonstrated and proven track record leading holding a leadership role in a health- related organization, public health hospital, academic medicine department or division, or association preferred.
•Experience in grants management, fund-raising, financial and business relationship development and management.
•Prior experience serving as spokesperson or presenting on behalf of on organization in the media, at national conferences, at Board of Trustee meetings, and to corporate partners, donors and volunteers.
