The Mohave County Public Health Department is accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The Department consists of five divisions: Administration, Environmental Health, Bio Defense and Emergency Preparedness, Nutrition and Health Promotion, and Nursing. Divisions operate out of three main districts (Kingman, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City); and Colorado City, on a limited basis. The Director plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the programs and activities of the department; establishes policies, procedures and guidelines for the divisions; performs professional and administrative work, through subordinate managers and supervisors, in planning, organizing and directing the activities of all divisions.
The importance of this position requires that the Public Health Director be an experienced leader with excellent communication and administrative skills and is proficient at developing relationships and consensus. The new Director will become an integral part of the County’s management team and will be expected to take a leadership role in managing the County’s shared vision.

The candidate shall have extensive knowledge of public health administration and personnel management as applied to public service systems; local, state and federal regulations and laws pertaining to public health administration; current trends in, and principles and practices of, providing public health particularly in areas of nutrition, nursing, environment health, senior programs chronic disease prevention, vital records, and emergency response.
The ideal candidate shall possess a Master’s degree in health, business, or public administration and five years of increasingly responsible experience in public health administration with at least five years at a supervisory/managerial level OR equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

About Mohave County, Arizona
Mohave County was formed in 1864 as one of the four original counties of the new Arizona Territory. A five member Board of Supervisors, elected by district on a partisan basis for a four year term, governs the County. The Board appoints the County Manager, who is responsible for the overall management and administration of County operations.
