Texas Department of State Health Services is seeking a manager for a challenging position as the Regional Preparedness and Response Manager. Position performs advanced, senior level managerial work overseeing the operations and activities of the Preparedness and Response Program in Public Health Region 6/5S. Position establishes goals, objectives and priorities for the regional preparedness program to execute and fulfill the DSHS expectations and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Cooperative Agreement and Work plan. Assures regional ability to implement an effective Regional Health and Medical Operations Center and fulfill Texas expectations and ESF-8 roles. Oversees and directs the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and testing of all-hazards public health response plans for assigned jurisdiction (seven counties). Works collaboratively with representatives in all Local Health Department jurisdictions involved in public health and hospital preparedness, emergency management and related planning and response activities in the 16-county region. Works with DSHS-Austin to ensure coordination and integration of statewide planning efforts. Required to respond to all hazard public health emergencies and assures team’s abilities to respond. May require other than normal business hours and locations to respond to all hazard emergencies.
Experience in preparedness planning.
Experience in public health preparedness program, emergency management or disaster response as a manager, team leader or function lead. (Preferred)
Experience serving in a leadership role in an ICS structure during a public health or disaster response. (Preferred)

Public Health Region 6/5S is comprised of 16 counties in Southeast Texas and their headquarters is in Houston. The Regional Preparedness and Response Program administratively reports to regional leadership and receives technical guidance from the region and DSHS-Austin Preparedness. The program collaborates and partners with Local Health Departments in 9 counties of the region. In seven counties, the program serves a more direct role, working with community partners, to include Emergency Management Coordinators.
