You will serve as an Occupational Health Nurse in the Naval Hospital Jacksonville of NAVHOSP JACKSONVILLE.
You will independently provide medical surveillance assessments for Noise, Sight Conservation, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Child Care Work programs.
You will supervise 1 junior Occupational Health Nurse and 1-2 Occupational Health Technicians
You will assign and review work daily, weekly and monthly; assure production and accuracy requirements are met.
You will advise employees on work and administrative matters, hears and resolves complaints.
You will provide basic life support-level nursing care and first aid for employees.
You will refer workers, non-occupational injuries to workers, private provider after completing nursing assessment.
You will conduct the preliminary portion of federal civil service, non-ionizing radiation work, physical examinations including pre-placement, medical surveillance, certification and work fitness examinations.
You will participate in preventive health education programs and counseling for workers aimed at prevention of disease and maintenance of health.

Applicants must have successfully completed a graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools).
Have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate you have successfully completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; OR possess a diploma, bachelor's degree, or master's degree form a professional nursing educational program and have at least one of more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing basic life support-level nursing care and first aid for employees with acute, occupational illnesses and injuries for ambulatory care setting; monitor work related illness and injury by direct work contact, medical testing results, industrial hygiene (IH) data and worksite visits; notify occupational physician, industrial hygienist, and/or safety specialist of unsafe conditions and exposures; determine the need for medical testing based on occupational exposure hazards; provide medical screening tests and order those tests performed by clinic laboratory.
Certification by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN) as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) is desired, but not required.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
