As an integral part of the marketing team, the Communications Specialist is responsible for copy writing and production of a wide variety of technically accurate, clinically sound, and proficiently crafted documents and marketing collateral to support MemorialCare Medical Foundation’s marketing, sales and clinical goals and objectives. This position blends marketing communications understanding with clinical, marketing and public relations writing responsibilities and works cross-functionally within the department and the company. Solid writing skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to completion on time and meeting deadlines are critical.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Support sales functions of increased patient enrollment and revenue
Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to creatively translate ideas and concepts into content that communicates key messages and achieves strategic objectives
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and journals to write public relations/marketing copy that is promotion and persuasive in nature.
Must be able to work independently, make own decisions and demonstrate initiative
Timely production of marketing collateral to maximize sales opportunities
Up-to-date web site content and marketing collateral and inventory
Timely on-boarding of new physicians and physician practices
Timely writing and production of communication pieces
Must have thorough understanding of print production techniques, direct mail and marketing communications.
Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends and have a valid CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.

Essential Job Outcomes
Proficient in composing original written works based on research, personal interviews and other information gathering techniques. Responsible for developing, writing and editing content for internal and external communication vehicles for a variety of audiences. This will include, but not limited to: monthly e-newsletter, marketing collateral copy, web content, physician announcements, patient forms and letters, press releases, etc. Assist other marketing staff and other departments with proof-reading and editing of written materials as needed.
He/she must maintain editorial continuity and consistency among MCMF, MCMG, GNP and MCHS communications.
Manages marketing collateral production, working with graphic designers, printers and other vendors to produce finished pieces within budgetary constraints and meeting all due dates and deadlines. Proofs and edits all copy prior to submittal for production and performs final proof and edits of marketing materials.
Strengthens Sales functions in increasing patient enrollment and patient visits by providing marketing communications support with marketing plan development, media plan development, ad concept development, media placement and direct mail campaigns and collateral creation etc.
Maintains medical group and/or IPA website content including physician bios, practice information, home page updates, news and events, keeping content accurate, up-to-date and timely.
Manages marketing collateral fulfillment including but not limited to: maintaining inventory of marketing pieces, reordering as needed; filling order requests for materials from the medical offices/departments; forecasting and meeting the increased needs for upcoming busy periods; and updating on-line available forms inventory and authorized order lists. Writes, produces and distributes e-newsletter for medical group and/or IPA on schedule. Maintains e-mail address database.
In a timely manner, produces physician communications including but not limited to: on-boarding of new physicians/practices (photos, bios, additions to collateral, posters, flyers, mailings, etc.); announcements for moving or exiting physicians; awards nominations; presentation writing and power point preparation for physician lectures, etc. Collects and reports medical group physician marketing hours to appropriate party at end of each month.
Answers Marketing toll free lines and assists callers as needed taking registrations for classes and events, and messages for Medicare Specialists.
Lead and coordinate marketing events, physician presentations and sales meetings as.
Updates marketing “toll free lines” on hold messages as needed. Receives inquiries through the website and answers were appropriate or forwards to the correct party and completes Patient Interaction Forms when necessary. Consistently completes tasks in a timely manner meeting deadlines and critical milestones.

Minimum of 3-5 years healthcare copy writing experience and collateral production is essential; including writing marketing materials, biographies, articles and press releases.
A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or marketing and public relations is preferred
