Nemours is seeking a Sr Database Administrator (FULL-TIME), to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware or Jacksonville, Florida.
As the birthplace of the Nemours healthcare system, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. honors our legacy of delivering exceptional care to the children of the Delaware Valley and beyond. Ranked among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and honored with the ANCC’s Magnet Designation for excellence in nursing practice, we offer intensive and acute inpatient and outpatient services covering more than 30 pediatric specialties. In October, we will complete a multi-phase hospital expansion that will include new inpatient rooms, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. Additionally, Nemours duPont Pediatrics allows us to reach more children across the region through community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems.
The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for protecting enterprise data.Day to day functions include the management, installation, deployment, monitoring and ongoing support of enterprise databases for both business and clinical systems at Nemours.This position leads efforts in resolving complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.The position may also participate in researching and evaluating new technology products or may suggest changes or enhancements to existing products as required to support the business.Additionally, this position requires solid customer service skills to support and assist end users.
Protects enterprise database assets. This includes implementing and monitoring effective database backup and recovery methodologies and processes.
Assumes principal lead database administrator role for projects as designated by supervisor which may include: analyzing user needs and creating proper database design to meet those needs; installing and configuring new database environments and upgrading existing database environments.
Responsible for daily support for existing database solutions, including modifying, testing, validating, and documenting system changes. Adheres to normal change control processes for these activities.
Oversees and participates in day-to-day system administration including performance tuning, system monitoring, problem investigation, and optimization. Serves as an escalation point for other team members.
Proactively identifies process and procedural issues and suggests potential solutions and engages teammates or other teams as required.
Architects, develops and maintains database environment documentation.
Performs technical evaluations of new technology products or suggest changes/enhancements to existing products/environments to fulfill customer needs. Assists in the development of budgetary requests for these items.
Serves as a mentor to facilitate the successful on boarding of new teammates.
Position can be located in either Wilmington, Delaware or Jacksonville, Florida.
Bachelor's Degree required. A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both technical and professional capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.
Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate for SQL Server (MCSA) required.
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert for SQL Server ( MCSE)
