Loudoun County invites resumés and applications for the position of Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Developmental Services (MHSADS) Medical Director.
The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Developmental Services (MHSADS) provides a broad spectrum of services to citizens with serious mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities. These services are provided to individuals of all ages to empower people to live independently and successfully in the community of Loudoun. MHSADS is continually looking forward in ways to support the Loudoun community. This year, initiatives implemented to improve access to services and more robust treatment included Same Day Access and Collaborative Documentation. Additionally, the Department works collaboratively with the Community Services Board, an eighteen-member volunteer policy-advisory board appointed by the Board of Supervisors. This Board supports MHSADS through lobbying efforts at the state and county level and identification of community supports and resources.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the Executive Director, the Medical Director will provide a strategic philosophy of community behavioral health with internal and external partners to identify best business practices of integrated care for individuals served by the Department. The Medical Director represents the Department in local, regional, and state initiatives addressing mental health, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities. Additionally, the Medical Director will provide subject matter expertise on the delivery of nationally recognized, evidence-based best practices in a variety of community behavioral health and development disability service settings.
Applicants must possess a medical degree preferably with a specialty in psychiatry, possess experience running a mental health organization showcasing strong visionary leadership with innovative approaches. It is a requirement that the doctor be licensed in Virginia or be capable of being licensed in Virginia. It is highly desired but not required for the induvial to be Board certified in Psychiatry. Applicants need to have four years of executive level and managerial experience in a comparably sized public or private organization. Relocation to Loudoun County is expected as well as a commitment to the County and the Community.
The expected hiring range is $220,000 to $230,000 per annum based on education and experience with an excellent benefits package to include outstanding medical, dental and vision coverage. Retirement pension benefits through the Virginia Retirement System, deferred compensation and Roth IRA plans, a generous leave and holiday policy, flexible spending accounts with County match and County provided life and disability insurance will also be offered to the successful candidate. Relocation expenses may be covered up to $10,000.
