Valley Children’s Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse Surgical Clinical Reviewer, Infection Prevention. The chief responsibility of this RN is to collect and submit reliable data to the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program Pediatric Division (ACS NSQIP). Using clinical knowledge and understanding of patient care, will collect data from various sources including medical records, surgery clinics, direct patient contact, and accounts payable. Working with Surgery staff, will identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement within the Perioperative Service Line.
Collects preoperative, operative, and postoperative data components for the Program through effective utilization of the hospital medical records systems
Identifies opportunities to feedback Pediatric ACS NSQIP data to relevant groups or meetings
Leads and identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities as a result of the data collection process
Identifies surgical patients for inclusion in the program through application of Program inclusion/exclusion criteria and protocols
Demonstrates applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers within the Program through Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) testing
Demonstrates appropriate utilization of resources necessary to obtain valid, reliable data for entry into the Program
Responsible for accurate and timely entry of data in the Program's database and meets the caseload accrual requirement
Bachelor's Degree (BSN preferred) or equivalent experienced field
Valid CA RN license
Minimum 1 year hospital surgery department, surgery clinic, clinical research or medical records
Clinical chart review and abstracting experience preferred
Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred
