Bon Secours Palliative Medicine has openings for talented physicians to join our busy, well-established practice to provide services to patients with complex and serious medical illnesses. Bon Secours was the first program in the country to have three inpatient programs certified by the Joint Commission at once and is currently pursuing certification at a fourth hospital. Bon Secours serves as a model for future certification of outpatient programs. Our Palliative Medicine program is one of three in the United States to be honored with the Circle of Life Award and is part of the Spiritual Care Coalition.
We are currently seeking full time Palliative Medicine physicians for both our Richmond and Hampton Roads locations as well as a Medical Director in Hampton Roads.
Opportunity to provide some outpatient care
Expect to see about 350 new inpatient consults per year
Manage care decisions including advanced care planning, overwhelming symptoms including pain management, psychosocial distress and end stage disease including prognostication and therapy options
Support Palliative Care integration into the Health System and the community
Knowledge of medical and pharmacological management of pain and other symptoms
Care for the dying and their families
Participate in rotating call schedule
Duties as Medical Director (30%):
Provides clinical leadership and expertise to the palliative medicine team
Serves as collaborating physician for advance practice clinicians/nurse practitioners on the palliative medicine team
Oversight of the work of the palliative medicine clinical team members
Regular team meetings to discuss programmatic/operational and staff issues
Collaboration with administrative leadership related to strategic planning, budget development and quality metric development and monitoring to evaluate program effectiveness
