Banner Pharmacy Services clinical staff members serve as advisor to consumers, providing care, guidance and support for wellbeing through optimal medication management. The Ambulatory Pharmacy Support Coordinator functions in a support capacity for the Banner University Medical Group (BUMG) ambulatory care environment in the optimization of pharmacy operations, including the ordering, storage, administration, monitoring, and wastage of medications. Independently conducts on-site assessments to ensure optimal medication handling practices in BUMG clinics and ascertains alignment with internal policies and external standards, rules and regulations. This position is based in Tucson.

Clinical Pharmacy Services are also included in this robust new service line and are responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention.
POSITION SUMMARY This position functions in a support capacity for the ambulatory service lines in the optimization of pharmacy operations, including, but not limited to, the areas of pharmaceutical purchasing, formulary management, sample medication management, clinic-administered medication charge practices, waste management, and controlled substance audit practices. Serves as a resource to physicians, clinic administration and staff in interpreting medication related policies. Independently conducts on-site assessments to ensure optimal medication handling practices in the ambulatory environment and ascertain alignment with internal policies and external standards, rules and regulations. Documents findings, prepares timely audit reports, and presents to clinic leadership. Reviews historical audit trending and makes recommendations to support development of facility plans of correction. This position works with operations to implement policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and training materials.

3. Responds to standard requests from internal and/or external customers. Interacts primarily with department personnel, cross-department personnel, internal and/or external customers, patients and physicians.
4. Uses discretion to prioritize assigned tasks and duties based on changes in workflow or other immediate situations. Uses independent decision making based on technical knowledge and department standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a technical certificate program.
Requires pharmacy technician licensure in the state of practice (where applicable). Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy and be able to travel.
Moderate experience, typically gained through 2-4 years relevant work experience OR 12 - 18 months in an educational program. Must demonstrate 2 years of hospital and/or retail pharmacy experience or in depth knowledge of pharmacy operations. Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, and Microsoft applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills. Familiarity with pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
