Description Principle responsibilities are to perform a full range of customer service activities. Responsible for communicating requested test results and coordination and documentation of appropriate follow-up with the customer to include evaluating client concerns, complaints, and trends. Responsible for recommending changes to accommodate client needs. Registers and interviews patients, obtain accurate demographic and financial information and check for medical necessity for all Medicare patients when needed. Computer entry, preparing registration paperwork, and assigning of rooms. Handles third party customer questions, complaints, and problems once an order has been invoiced. Completes all necessary follow-up in a timely manner so the payment process will not be delayed. Must stay current on follow ups, so billing deadlines are not missed. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma required. Associate's degree preferred. SKILLS: * Proficiency in medical terminology, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required * Must be customer-focused and service-oriented * Strong skills required in human relations, organization, task prioritization, and written and verbal communication essential * Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently in a team environment * Extensive computer skills and working knowledge of office equipment required * Knowledge of PC Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required * Ability to answer a multi-line telephone system and able to log and track all telephone inquiries. EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in customer service in a call center, laboratory or health care related field. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: -Responsible to: Laboratory Manager ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to low degree of biohazardous chemicals, odors, specimens, and other contaminated materials and areas. High noise levels. Work conditions demand a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, in an open area with phones ringing and constant interruptions. Must be able to adapt to varied workload levels and work with changing customer service technology in a dynamic environment. - Bloodborne pathogen: Occasional exposure in daily duties. Little expected risk, but may be exposed unexpectedly to potentially infectious materials. Exposure may be superficial and limited to a small amount of fluid. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Subject to stressful situations. Must be flexible in work schedule. Extended use of video display terminal and keyboard utilizing sound ergonomic principles.
