ResponsibilitiesAs a Cytotechnologist, you will be a key member of our Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. You will be responsible for microscopically evaluating GYN and non-GYN material while giving a preliminary interpretation on FNA, non-GYN and abnormal GYN cases. You will render the final interpretation on GYN cases that are determined to be negative. Other responsibilities include: •Attend and perform adequacy on the deep, radiologic guided fine needle aspirations (e.g., RadPath procedures) •Collect specimens for ancillary testing, including molecular •Attend and perform renal adequacy (EM-related) procedures •Perform accessioning and data entry •Lecture in School of Cytology •Provide input for SOPs and inspection preparation •Perform correlation procedures Qualifications•Current California Cytotechnologist license •Bachelor’s degree •ASCP Cytotechnologist certification – CT (ASCP) or SCT (ASCP) •ThinPrep certification •BD-SurePath Morphology certification •Successfully passed CLIA mandated GYN (PAP) Proficiency Test for the current year. Exception: Recent graduates of Cytotechnology training programs do not need to take the PT during the calendar year in which they completed training •Working knowledge of the essentials of normal/abnormal cytologic principles for GYN and NON-GYN (including FNA) specimens •Strong organizational, teamwork and time-management skills •Ability to maintain good legible records •ROSE (rapid on-site evaluation) experience preferred UCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
