Lead Assistant General Counsel - Office of Technology Development

We work closely with our colleagues to help MSK achieve its overall mission of conquering cancer! We seek a Lead Assistant General Counsel who has broad experience supporting research collaborations, intellectual property management, and publicity matters.

You will:

• Lead the drafting and negotiation of licenses for MSKs scientific, digital, data, and copyrighted assets. These range from novel therapeutics to data licenses to software applications to branded clinical outcomes assessments.
• Execute agreements ranging from simple letter agreements and material transfer agreements to complex research and development contracts
• Support the Marketing and Communications team in their management and licensing of MSKs media library and use of copyrighted materials.
• Liaise with MSK compliance, regulatory, and privacy teams to develop policies governing the conduct of research, licensing, and commercialization.
• Report to leadership on the OTD Contracts team's key performance indicators, such as research contract submission and execution metrics.
• Supervise a team of lawyers performing a variety of contracting functions.

You are:

• Skilled in motivating and managing a team of legal professionals toward a common goal.
• A strong communicator, adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively across teams to meet shared objectives.
• Capable of maneuvering through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.
• Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
• Highly analytical and possess excellent problem-solving abilities.

You Have:

• A Juris Doctorate (JD) and a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• New York State Bar Admission, or the ability to be licensed within a year.
• Prior management experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with research agreements and an understanding of industrial trials and industrial sponsor relationships is preferred.
• A biological or chemical science background is a plus.
