The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) Behavioral Care Line is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) preferably with Psychiatric experience for a full-time position in the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Program (MHRRTP). The ANM. Reports directly to Nurse Manager (NM) and is the designated person in charge in the absence of the NM. The ANM is a core member of the BHCL Nurse Leadership team under the Chief Nurse, Behavioral Health Care Line. The ANM executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care serving New Mexico's Veterans who are admitted our MHRRTP residential units. He/she is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice and for demonstrating leadership and integrity when providing patient care. The ANM assists in the development and implementation of programs to improve the delivery of patient care in MHRRTP and functions as nurse leader and interdisciplinary team member. He/she must be poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds for Veterans from ages 17. The ANM is responsible to ensure that the highest possible quality of care is achieved and that a safe, therapeutic environment is provided. He/she is administratively responsible to the NM and is administratively responsible as delegated by the NM for the nursing staff (RN, LPN, NA). Duties of the MHRRTP ANM include but are not limited to: Planning, administering, and directing nursing care to residential patients with behavioral and substance abuse disorders. Identification and coordination of mental health nursing educational needs, including coordination of scheduling and teaching of mandatory mental health nursing competencies and in-services. Provides oversight for, staffing, counseling, and disciplinary actions in collaboration and under the direction of the Nurse Manager (NM). Providing up to 50% direct patient care when there are staffing shortages and/or high unit acuity Performs other related duties as required by Nurse Manager Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
