This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Bronx VA Medical Center is seeking a motivated Staff Registered Nurse with a passion for Veteran healthcare, in our Spinal Cord Injury Unit. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. The VA's Center on the Medical Consequences of Spinal Cord Injury is located at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. The center's mission is to improve Veterans' quality of life and increase their longevity by preventing and intervening in the secondary medical consequences that result from having a spinal cord injury. These consequences can include bone and muscle loss, metabolic and cardiovascular changes. The incumbent Staff Nurse (RN) will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans. Duties include but are not limited to: Documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition. Collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes. Providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems. Accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. Incumbent leads by example in defining a customer service culture to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and civility. Ensures that whenever possible, works to cultivate partnerships with our customers in developing solutions to meet their needs. Must be willing to work with COVID patients as needed. efficient delivery of rehabilitation; sustaining medical and surgical care; patient and family education; psychological, social, and vocational care; All other duties as assigned.
