This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more This Registered Nurses position is located in Nursing Service on the Step Down unit 5B. This position is a part-time position at 24 hours per week. Provides comprehensive, safe and effective nursing care to patients admitted to inpatient medical-surgical and step-down levels of care. Documents initial/ongoing patient assessment and plan of care. Makes quick and accurate assessments in the care of acute and chronically ill patients. Identifies and manages life-sustaining physiological functions in unstable patients. Has knowledge of normal and abnormal findings and reports findings. Has knowledge of telemetry, hemodynamics, phlebotomy, basic IV and central line skills. Educates and/or monitors the patients regarding procedures, treatments, and discharge information Attends code blues and rapid responses as needed. Work Schedule: This vacancy is a part-time (24 hours per week) 3rd shift vacancy. The selected applicant will be required to work every other weekend and every other holiday. The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will recommend the grade and salary for new appointments based on the candidate's education and experience. For internal selectees being promoted, the board will determine grade and HR will determine step in accordance with policy. Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.
