Learn more The Buffalo VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the Cardiac Catherization & Electrophysiology/ Laboratory and patient care in the Outpatient Ambulatory Service. This position is located on-site at the Buffalo VAMC. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The incumbent practices as a RN in the Nursing Service Line. Patient populations include individuals with acute and/or chronic health conditions or change in mental status; these conditions negatively influence normal individual functioning. He/ She is responsible for providing and managing effective nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures, using nursing process, nursing diagnosis, and current standards of care. The RN demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. As a nurse on the Cath Lab team, the RN is accountable when assigned as a primary nurse for a defined group of patients for the entire episode of care on his/her shift. Based on education and experience, the nurse may be assigned responsibilities as a preceptor, charge nurse, or team member. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others (VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G6). Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. The RN is responsible for collaborating with services internal and external to the VA to facilitate care transition in order to effectively meet the Veterans' needs. Collaborates with the Teamlet (patient, Primary Care Provider, and Clinical Support Technician) and larger Team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services involved in providing care to the patient). The nurse is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). Provides a full range of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process based on the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice Accurately documents in the medical record patient findings, assessments, and care provided. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems that result in improved patient outcomes. The nurse, in all professional relationships, practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status, personal attributes, or the nature of health problems (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses).
