The Quality Management RN position is located in Performance Management Service at the Leeds location. This position is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. The position will have responsibility for the utilization management (UM) program. UM is required to be completed on 100% of patients in Acute Psychiatry. This person will be the QM liaison for the Mental Health Service Line. It is anticipated that this person will be trained in all QM activities including External Peer Review (EPRP), VSSC, Risk ,and Patient Safety. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. The Quality Management Nurse is a proficient nurse who demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care. Practice is enhanced through development of collegial relationships. This nurse demonstrates collaboration by using the group process to solve problems. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Utilizes standard criteria (e.g., interQual®) to conduct clinical reviews on a continuing basis to identify data directly related to admissions, continued stay and utilization of outpatient and ancillary services. Initiates contact with providers and other treatment team members to communicate pertinent data related to appropriateness of admission, continued stay and ancillary services.
