We are seeking a Patient Billing Specialist to join MSKs Patient Billing department and act as a main representative for our patients. This individual will use detailed knowledge of billing procedures and policies for all Memorial Sloan Kettering sites to proactively contact patients to communicate MSKs billing practices, including payment requirements and insurance processing procedures.
Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to perform with a high level of accuracy under pressure
Able to communicate in a professional, persuasive and diplomatic manner; ability to calm and satisfy upset and/or confused patients and/or their family members over the telephone
Knowledgeable of third party claims processing and reimbursement
A person who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and taking on Process Improvement projects
Act as the point of contact for the billing department to our patients, delivering services to patients via incoming phone inquiries, portal inquiries, email, mail and referrals from other MSK departments
Calculate the cost of care for our patients for services provided and work with patients to resolve outstanding balances by providing a variety of financial options
Participate in task forces and projects to improve processes that will enhance the patient experience and handle the revenue that is brought in
A high school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred
At least a year of relevant healthcare experience is required
Excellent communication skills and a focus on patient service
This role is expected to have a Monday-Friday 10:30am to 6:30pm schedule and a hybrid reporting model, working onsite in NYC and remote.
