Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 49-54 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 10 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Major Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for outpatient and inpatient care. - Prescribes treatment for in and outpatients referred by consultations. - Provides special tests such as EMG (electromyography) and other special procedures as may be determined. - Work closely with patients, their families and all rehabilitation team members. - Participates in administration, committees, and the general teaching functions as delegated by the Associate Chief of Staff Ambulatory Service. - Participates in outpatient general physical medicine and rehabilitation clinics, and other special clinics as may be specified (i.e., Interventional Pain Management, amputee clinic, spinal cord injury, TBI, stroke, DME, and EMG). - Provides inpatient med/surg and/ or rehabilitation ward consultation coverage as needed. - Support the interdisciplinary rehabilitation treatment team, and participates in all activities pertinent to the rehabilitation unit. - Independently uses professional judgment and expertise to make decisions about services and treatment provided to veterans and their significant others/ family members. - Reports to the Associate Chief of Staff Ambulatory Service. - Willing to serve as the "physician designee" of the Chief Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in his/her absence. - Provides opportunities for professional continuing education through journal clubs, case presentations, workshops and conferences. - Participates in activities pertaining to the quality improvement, strategic planning, and meeting JCAHO requirements for the accreditation process. - Participates in oversight of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation therapist trainee program. - Other duties as assigned.
