The Integrated Genomics Operation (IGO) enables basic, clinical and translational research projects across the Cancer Center. IGO implements the MSK mission to cure cancer by providing a broad range of genomic services and expertise to our world-class research scientists. We are a high throughput core facility producing >100TB of data per year across >40 applications including fourth generation of genomics technologies such as single cell and spatial transcriptomics. We are currently seeking a candidate to join the Integrated Genomics Operation (IGO) Robotics Team as an Automation Engineer Assistant.
As an Automation Engineer Assistant, you will:
Test and execute automated assays in both 96 and 384 plates.
Offer support to all lab members with their automation needs.
Implement recovery methodologies as necessary.
Train lab members to run robotic methods and help troubleshoot issues if any arise.
Perform routine QC on equipment for precision and accuracy testing.
Maintain a Lean Workflow for all processes
Support Automation Engineer in all capacities as required
Collaborate with bioinformatics software engineers and become familiar with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to integrate into the automation.
Evaluate new equipment and automated methodologies as required by Automation Engineer.
Communicate with vendor technical support and sales representatives if necessary

A Bachelors Degree in a Biology or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant full-time experience or a masters degree with 1 year full-time relevant experience.
Experience with Hamilton and Beckman equipment, knowledge of basic NextGen Sequencing workflows and previous exposure to LIMS systems are welcome
