This is an open and continuous announcement which will be used to fill Registered Nurse positions in Acute Care (Med/Surg) at the Dayton VA Medical Center. The incumbent practices as an RN and applies the nursing process to Acute Care inpatient care. This individual is responsible for the development, implementation, and sustainment of infrastructural systems and processes related to supporting clinical staffs' ability to effectively provide coordinated, evidence-based care to Veterans. The incumbent practices as an RN on the Surgical and Medical (SAM) unit or on the MED 1 unit. These units are within the Acute and Specialty Care section of Nursing Service. The staff nurse is responsible as a team leader or nursing team member for a group of assigned patients on his/her shift. The RN delivers theoretically and scientifically based nursing care to an assigned group of veterans. He/she is constantly building upon current clinical competencies. Serves as an advocate for the veteran and is obligated to demonstrate nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory attitudes and behaviors that are sensitive to veteran diversity. The RN is accountable to function as an effective team member, team leader, preceptor and/or charge nurse.
