The incumbent is assigned as a staff dentist or dental specialist to the Dental Service and reports to the Chief, Dental Service and to Assistant Chief, Dental Service Duties include but are not limited to: The incumbent will function as an equal member within the larger team of staff dentists and auxiliary staff. Individuals with specialized training in a particular specialty may be assigned section chief responsibilities for that subspecialty and may function as the primary clinician or subject matter expert responsible for formulating policy, procedures, education and training affecting the daily clinical operations of the subspecialty. As a staff dentist, the incumbent will be responsible for providing consultation and treatment within the scope of their specific clinical privileges. As a staff dentist, the incumbent may provide education and training to members of the medical staff through various conferences, committees, and lecture series. The incumbent may be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational, and administrative committees, task groups or special projects.
