This position is located in White River Junction, VT within Nursing Service. THIS OPEN & CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT (OCA) ESTABLISHES A STANDING REGISTER OF ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS, which closes on December 16, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be October 1, 2021 with subsequent reviews every other week as additional vacancies occur, or on an as-needed basis, until positions are filled. Please see the "What To Expect Next" area of the announcement. This position is located within the Nursing Service and is assigned to the Residential Recovery Center (RRC). The LPN is a member of the multi-disciplinary team and shares in the general goal of assisting veterans in the rehabilitation and transition attempts to overcome problems related to substance abuse and other mental illnesses. The incumbent is primarily responsible for monitoring patients that are admitted to the residential treatment program. Duties include but are not limited to, supervision of patients, maintaining safety and security of the Veterans and the unit, general nursing responsibilities, administration of medications, assisting in managing crisis situations, group facilitation, program administration and program data collection. The incumbent is responsible for orienting patients, the initial phases of treatment, and helping patients to continue long-term rehabilitation and transition activities, both at the Medical Center and in the community. The incumbent is also expected to monitor behavior for the patients of his/her caseload and make recommendations to the appropriate treatment team based upon these observations. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of administrative procedures regarding the admission, discharge and other ward procedures. The incumbent will be required to perform all duties which are patient care related. Travel and relocation expenses are not authorized This position is in the Excepted Service.
