The Orlando VA Medical Center is seeking a Certified Diabetes Educator/ Registered Nurse to assist in teaching self-management techniques to patients diagnosed with diabetes. The Diabetes Nurse Educator is a clinician, educator and patient advocate in the specialty of diabetic nursing practice. He/she provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients who are seen in the Diabetics Clinic at the Orlando VA Medical Center. He/she collaborates with Case Managers, nursing staff, and Medical teams to provide education and ensure appropriate testing and follow-up. He/she plays an important role in Performance Measures and collects/reports this data to leadership. In addition, he/she collaborates with the Diabetes Clinic team and assists the Diabetes Education Program Coordinator with clinic coordination. The Diabetes Nurse Educator is responsible for the integrity, uniformity, continuity and quality of clinical nursing practice for the Diabetes Education Program at Lake Nona.
