The VISN Clinical Contact Center (CCC) Chief Nurse Manager is responsible for the supervisory/managerial direction of nursing staff managers and staff as well as the nursing operations of the clinical contact center. CCC nursing staff may be located at multiple sites within the VISN and virtually. The Chief Nurse Manager assists the VISN Clinical Contact Center Chief Nurse with administrative and clinical functions targeted to promote comprehensive care services for the Veteran. Duties include, but are not limited to: Uses expertise to perform clinical triage and the ability to effectively coordinate, develop, implement and sustain the education and training of staff. Responsible and accountable for 24/7 operations of the VISN-based program or the hours assigned, ensuring that nursing personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with accepted standards of clinical practice. Performs clinical nurse triage for evaluation of symptoms and disposition of health care concerns, virtual clinical visits with providers for acute and episodic care needs, pharmacy services, and appointment scheduling. Provides a convenient, patient-centered, safe, and easily accessible option for Veterans to address their health care needs. Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes. Leads and organizes delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. Functions as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities. Systematically evaluates current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise. Demonstrates expertise in leadership at the systems level that is sustainable and requires experience and creative approaches to the management of complex situations.
