The Nurse Patient Care Coordinator is a highly skilled professional who works as the facility administrative nurse. This nurse will have a minimum of a master's degree in nursing or in a related field. Board certification from a VA approved certifying body is preferred. S/he works toward accomplishing objectives and standards in accordance with the VHA, VISN, and Medical Center Strategic Plan and the ECF performance plan. The primary practice settings for this RN include the Emergency Department, Bed Control during off tours, all inpatient units and Specialty Procedure areas as appropriate. This nurse plays a major role in the coordination of the delivery of health services and patient flow at the Medical Center. Th incumbent is knowledgeable in management principles, employee relations, and all administrative functions. This RN must be able to demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaboration strategies with others. The practice of the RN in this position is based on knowledge, experience, and research and has a direct impact on patient care and patient safety facility wide.
